I would argue that it was the May 2025 Revisionist History of War conference that I organized. Murray Rothbard believed that the two most important topics for libertarians and libertarianism are revisionist history and war. War is the health of the state. All states lie their countries in to wars, and then they and their “intellectual” shills lie about what happened during the wars, what caused them, and the consequences thereof. It’s hard to think of a more important Rothbardian research agenda than the revisionist history of war informed by Austrian economics and Rothbardian libertarian philosophy.
The speeches from the conference are online here. The most hard hitting ones were Ron Unz on the false history of World War II; Ilana Mercer on fake history of the Israeli state; a first-hand account of the 1967 Israeli attack on the USS Liberty in which 34 American sailors were killed by Phil Tourney, president of the USS Liberty Veterans Association; Pentagon Lies by retired Air Force Colonel Karen Kwiatkowski; truths about post-Civil War “reconstruction” by Wanjiru Njoya; the myth of the “righteous cause” from Lincoln to the war in Iraq by Brion McClanahan; and of course myself on the “false virtue” that has been used to “justify” American military imperialism for the past 150 years.
Hans was unable to attend the conference but he did write a paper for it that was to be included in the book containing all of the other speeches. It is entitled “On War, Democratic Peace, and Reeducation: The ‘German Experience’ in Reactionary Perspective.”
Longtime Mises Institute copy editor Judy Thomessen, who is now the executive director of the Institute, has written to Hans that they do plan on publishing the book eventually. If so, it would be the most Rothbardian book published by the Mises Institute in thirty years (apart from Rothbard’s own posthumous publications).
