Milei in Madrid – Again, Messing up….

Related

During a recent trip to Madrid, Javier Milei, Argentina’s self-proclaimed anarcho-capitalist president, was featured as keynote speaker at the 10th Annual Madrid Conference on Austrian Economics, organized by Jesús Huerta de Soto, and took the opportunity to publicly denounce Pedro Sánchez, the present socialist president of Spain, and express his support for Sánchez’s “rightist” opponents in the current Spanish election campaign.

Milei openly called out Sánchez as a “dictator” and as a “thief” deeply involved in corruption.1

All correct from an anarcho-capitalist viewpoint: Sánchez, as head of state, indeed dictates law without (or even against) the explicit consent of everyone affected by it. (In fact, that’s what politics is all about: one person ruling over and above another one!) As well, taxes and fiat money inflation are indeed theft, and Sánchez and his regime live off of taxes and money “creation.” Hence, to call him a thief is also true. And Sánchez and his wife are indeed implicated in some corruption affairs. Also true.

Milei’s fan-boys and -girls were enthused. What bravery of this man Milei! What a hero! Finally someone not afraid to say the truth! The most fearless defender of Western civilization and the greatest living hope of human liberty – a role eagerly embraced and played by him, then, to the applause of a captive international fanbase.

But curiously: What was left unsaid or entirely lost sight of by his adoring fans: measured by the same standards as applied to Sánchez, Milei too is a dictator, a thief, and involved in corruption. As Sánchez, he too, as president of Argentina, is head of a criminal organization that rules over and above people who never consented to his rule. He and his regime too are financed by taxes, the money supply during his reign has continued to expand, the current consumer price inflation runs in the mid-30% range year-on-year, and Milei and his sister too are involved in various corruption affairs.2

A smaller crook may be, but a hero?!

Yet there is more: The much talked about so-called Judeo-Christian tradition is essentially an invention of the mid-20th century USA. Throughout most of history the pairing of Judaism and Christianity as two equal co-founders of Western civilization was not just uncommon but considered nonsense or even outright contradictory.3

How, then, can someone like Milei, constantly rhapsodizing about the ancient “Judeo-Christian tradition,” intimately connected with the Chabad-Lubavitch movement associated with the Orthodox Rebbe Schneerson, and, per self-description, the world’s most Zionist president, be possibly considered the greatest defender of Western civilization?4

In effect, in Milei’s mind, this strange brew of ideas has culminated in his unqualified glorification of the Jewish state of Israel. That is, in Milei’s unconditional defense of (and apology for) the terror, the territorial invasion, the expropriations, expulsions, assassinations, the apartheid, the blockades and the sanctions, the wars, the killings of innocent civilians, of women and children, the aerial bombardments, the wanton destruction and the military occupation of neighboring non-Jewish (goyim) lands or settlements — which all are essential parts and defining elements and moments of Israel’s history from its beginnings in 1948 (and even before) up until today, before our very eyes.

In Milei’s mind, all of this apparent evil somehow finds its justification within his peculiar “Judeo-Christian” belief system and never ever constitutes anything else than legitimate self-defense on Israel’s part. Best exemplified is this twisted mindset in Milei’s celebration of his deep and unbreakable friendship with the present Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who sees matters exactly the same way. Israel did not and cannot do anything wrong! (Sánchez, incidentally, does see this very differently.)

Milei, the alleged beacon of freedom and most fearless defender of Western civilization, then, on hugging and kissing terms and dancing around with a certified war criminal and war monger such as Netanyahu, who makes no bones about his genocidal intentions in comparing the present-day Palestinians with the to be eradicated Amalek of the Old Testament (**!**) – and yet, still no dissent, protest or outcry from the peanut gallery of his fans?!5

Last, but not least, and again in full display in Madrid, there is the incomparable vulgarity of the man that should instantly disqualify him as a champion of Western civilization. His vulgar speech, directly from the gutter, filled with profanities, swear words and insults, and his gruesome, repulsive appearance that no suit and tie can hide.6

Ludwig von Mises, it should be recalled, whose name Milei regularly invokes, was an aristocrat, not just of the mind but in particular also regarding public appearance and conduct. Milei’s conduct, in distinct contrast, is that of a prole. As personalities Mises and Milei could not be further apart, and it is a sign of serious confusion, of mis-judgement, of tastelessness or simply lack of style, then, for any institution associated with the name of Ludwig von Mises to have paid or are paying homage to a man such as Milei.

So, I have said it! But I am afraid that none of all this will have any significant effect on Milei’s fan-boys and -girls, all the while their hero, through words and deeds, will go on ruining the moral and intellectual reputation of Austro-Libertarianism, of anarcho-capitalism, and the idea of a private law society.
