While in Portugal for 100 Years with Rothbard this past June, Professor Hoppe was interviewed for the Portuguese podcast CdK (Conversas do Karalho) by “Guru Mike Billions” (Miguel Milhão), a Portuguese entrepreneur and founder of Prozis, one of the largest sports nutrition brands in Europe. In his podcast, he interviews guests on business, politics, culture, and related topics, often from a perspective critical of the state and mainstream Portuguese politics. Hans-Hermann Hoppe is one of the most radical and influential figures in contemporary libertarian thought. He was born in Peine, West Germany, in 1949, studied Philosophy, Sociology, History, and Economics in Saarbrücken, Frankfurt, and Michigan, and earned his doctorate in Philosophy from Goethe University in 1974, where he also obtained his Habilitation in Sociology and Economics in 1981. He was formed in the intellectual milieu of the German left, under the influence of Jürgen Habermas, from whom he would later completely distance himself.

In 1986 he moved to the United States to work with Murray Rothbard, of whom he was a close collaborator until Rothbard’s death in 1995. He is Professor Emeritus of Economics at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and founder and president of the Property and Freedom Society.

Author of Democracy: The God That Failed and A Theory of Socialism and Capitalism, he became known for his systematic critique of democracy, his defense of absolute private property, and the idea of a social order without the State. His positions, especially on immigration and private communities, have generated controversy even within the libertarian movement itself. He currently lives in Istanbul with his wife, the economist Gülçin Imre Hoppe.
